Lighthouse Dental Team
Lighthouse Dental Practice Dentists
Dr. Codrin Tocca, Dental Surgeon, DDS, Sweden
There has been a Dental Practice at 34 High Street in Ipswich for over 70 years. In 2007, I have joined the local dental community as one of the dentists in Ipswich. I completed my dental degree at the Karolinska Institute, School of Dentistry, Stockholm, Sweden in 1994. Since then I have worked in general practice in both England and Sweden. I strongly believe in high quality dentistry, a personalised, respectful and gentle approach as well as dental prevention. I am committed to the ongoing development of my professional skills and have regularly attended postgraduate courses in clinical subjects in both in the UK and abroad. My special interests are in Aesthetic and Minimally Invasive Adhesive Dentistry, Periodontology and Implantology. My favourite aspects of the job are getting to know my patients and showing them that dentistry can be gentle, aesthetic and that it can constitute an integral part of the health of the body as a whole.
What are you particularly proud of at Lighthouse Dental?
We aim to provide the highest level of treatment and service to our patients. We pride ourselves on delivering optimal dentistry rather than maximal dentistry and we always try to suggest treatments that suit our patients’ needs. Our patient is an individual, with individual needs, and therefore we will assess and treat each patient on an individual basis. One particular aspect that we are proud of is our patient and staff retention. Most of our staff have been with us long-term and they have provided safety and comfort for our patients. Currently we have several families of 4 generations amongst our patients.
Confidence and trust in our team (dentists, dental hygienist, dental therapist, dental nurses and receptionist) is paramount to ensure that our patients are satisfied at all time during their journey with us. All our team members receive on-going training to ensure they follow best practice and deliver high standards of care. We continually update our skills and techniques so that every visit to our dental practice is as relaxed and comfortable as possible.
Our practice philosophy is to help our patients to reach and enjoy long-term dental health. In order to achieve these goals, we emphasise the importance of prevention, since, as it is well known, prevention is always better than cure. By following our advice, we are confident that our patients will be able to reduce the need for future treatment. However, if treatment is necessary, we will always endeavour to perform it with the utmost care and to the highest standards. We actively encourage our patients to communicate freely with us about any aspect of their care so we can adapt our ways of working according to everyone’s individual needs. We emphasise patient comfort by having a calm, reassuring and professional approach to dental treatment.
What are your goals as a dental practice?
To provide the perfect combination of durable, gentle, natural-looking and safe dentistry with minimum effort from our patients and at a reasonable price. A telling example of this approach are our direct composite veneers which are bonded on strong enamel. This technique preserves the tooth and the dentist can avoid unnecessary and damaging removal of enamel like in the case of ceramic veneers or crowns. Apart from being gentler on the tooth it is also cheaper at approximately 1/3 of the cost of a ceramic veneer and can easily be repaired. Our website has several examples of this technique which although it appears simple, requires a high level of experience in order to be performed to an acceptable standard.

Annabel Taunton - Dental Hygienist
I have worked within dentistry for 27 years both as a dental nurse and as a dental hygienist. I very much enjoy working with the general public. As a dental hygienist, I am mainly concerned with ‘preventive’ dental health and treating gum disease, showing my patients correct home care and helping them to keep their teeth and gums healthy. A clean and healthy mouth will improve your appearance, help you to keep your teeth and give you fresh breath. My patients can range from young children to the elderly with a variety of dental care needs.

Dental Nurses Team
Donna Heron - Head Clinical Nurse
I've actually got a dental background spanning 20 years. In fact, I originally worked in private dental surgeries in London, then I moved to Suffolk. I really wanted to be a dental nurse because I actually feared going to the dentist as a teenager. So, I understand what it feels like to be a nervous patient and I think I'm able to make people feel at ease. This aspect of the role has always really interested me as I have a caring, thoughtful nature. I'm friendly and I understand that communication is key in order to help patients feel more comfortable. At weekends, I love socialising with my friends and enjoy long walks with my dog in the countryside.

Amy Rowlandson – Dental Nurse and Facial Aesthetics Coordinator
I have worked in the dental industry for the past six years. So, I trained for two years in 2013 then qualified in 2015. Since then, I have worked alongside dentists and hygienists based in Ipswich. For me, I wanted to become a dental nurse because I have a genuine interest in patient welfare. I also like working in a clinical environment. If you want to be a dental nurse, you have to be an organised and methodical person, with a calm and reassuring approach. In addition, you need to have good communication skills with those you work with, as well as patients. I feel I have those qualities as I can relate to people from any background. I also work well with young children and those with special needs.
In my spare time, I'm actually a qualified Nail and Eyelash Technician. In fact, beauty therapy was an interest of mine when growing up and I've always been passionate about helping people feel their best.

Roberta Pociute – Dental Nurse
I have worked as a dental nurse for almost 5 years. I have qualified in 2017, whilst working in a periodontal dental practice in Colchester. I moved back to Ipswich where I joined the Lighthouse Dental Practice team. My work experience is alongside general dentists, periodontists, and hygienists. I enjoy helping people and I love meeting the variety of people that come for dental visits. My future goal is to become a dental hygienist so I could be directly involved in my patients' treatments.
In my free time, I enjoy latin dancing - it’s a fun way to keep active, listen to great music, and make friends. I also love travelling - discovering new places, people, their languages, cultures and traditions. Quiet days? I enjoy reading and cooking.

Lighthouse Dental Practice Management and Creative Team
Suzanne Howard - Practice Manager
I started my career in dentistry straight from school, passing my National Examining Board for Dental Nurses exam in 1981. Now, 2019 marks my 40th year, both as a dental nurse and working at this practice!
I remember I always wanted a job that provided varied and interesting days and involved helping and caring for people. So, being a dental nurse and a Practice manager provides all this.
I think that a good dental nurse has a whole host of attributes. These range from compassion, a caring attitude and an ability to work under pressure to the ability to multi-task as well as good organisational skills. I believe I have a natural methodical approach to every task and I have a caring nature.
When I'm not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family and I love baking. I also love relaxing in my garden and driving my vintage car.

Lighthouse Dental Practice Hypnotherapist
Helen Wyer - Hypnotherapist, Neuro-Linguistic Programming Practitioner & Coach
I have always been incredibly interested in the mind and how it works. I have always been passionate about making a difference and helping people overcome challenges, develop and live their best lives. Being a hypnotherapist gives me a great opportunity to do this. Everyday I’m amazed at how powerful hypnotherapy can be in helping people make fast, effective and powerful changes in their lives. I can truly say that I love my job!
My training in London was extremely practical allowing me to work under supervision, in a therapeutic setting with real clients from day one. The training I did was accredited by The General Hypnotherapy Council (GHC) for being robust and of a high standard. Being a member of the GHC ensures that I undertake regular supervision and further my experience and knowledge through CPD training. I am also a member of the Complimentary and Natural HealthCare Council (CNHC). This is a Government body set up to register and regulate complimentary practitioners and protect the public. I am a local ambassador for this organisation. For the past two years I have been working from Quay Place Wellbeing and Heritage Centre in Ipswich, seeing clients daily for a wide range of issues and challenges. I have also worked extensively with staff at St Elizabeth Hospice and was part of their wellbeing services.
When I’m not working, I love walking my dog Maddy, socialising with my friends and family and attempting to tame my garden!
