My name is Angela and I am a dental hygienist at Lighthouse Dental Practice in Ipswich. I qualified in 1993 from the Eastman Dental Institute London. Over the years, I have enjoyed providing preventative dental care on an individually tailored basis to ensure the needs of every patient are met. I continue to keep abreast of contemporary developments in dentistry including any extended duties. This has enabled me to broaden my scope of practice and I work in partnership with our local dentists and all the other members of our clinic team. I think my role here is integral to the running of our Suffolk practice.
The dental hygienist plays a vital role in dental health care. We are mainly concerned with preventative dental health and helping you and your mouth to stay healthy. Perhaps our most familiar role involves general dental maintenance. However, that all revolves around keeping your teeth clean!
I think clean teeth and healthy gums are the cornerstone of good oral health. Of course, in an ideal world, all our patients tend to practise excellent oral hygiene. Many of you brush your teeth with fluoride toothpaste for two minutes, at least twice a day. We know many of you also floss thoroughly and interdental cleaning helps to dislodge food that’s trapped between your teeth. However, it can also help to reduce gum disease and bad breath, by removing plaque that forms along the gum line.
We are here to help you.
